Francia Raísa, seen on right with Selena Gomez, has acknowledged that the two have weathered "rocky and tricky" times in their friendship over the years.

Selena Gomez’s Former BFF — Who Gave Her A Kidney — Breaks Silence On Rumored Feud

Francia Raísa, who in 2017 donated one of her kidneys to Selena Gomez, is addressing years-long speculation of a feud between the two.

The “How I Met Your Father” and “Grown-ish” actor shrugged off accusations she’d confronted Gomez about her actions, including reportedly smoking cigarettes, in the wake of the transplant.

“Well, right now [what] you’re asking me is nonsense… and there are too many rumors,” Raísa told Univision’s “Primer Impacto,” via Entertainment Weekly. “When that rumor came out that I had gotten angry or something like that because [Selena] was smoking, I wasn’t aware of those rumors.”

She went on to note: “What you’re asking me are rumors. No one knows what’s going on, and neither she nor I are talking about it. One day, maybe we will address it.”

In a second, Spanish-language interview conducted by journalist Magaly Ortiz just days before Gomez’s Sept. 27 wedding to Benny Blanco, Raísa shut down a question about whether she and the “Only Murders in the Building” star had taken time to “reconcile” their friendship after their alleged estrangement.

“You know what? I’m not going to talk about that right now,” she said, in a translated version of the interview posted to Ortiz’s YouTube page. “But I do know that she’s getting married and I’m very happy for her … she has a life and she’s already a billionaire and I’m grateful that I was able to do that for her.”

Questions over the status of Gomez and Raísa’s relationship have heated up in recent days, given that there’s been no public acknowledgement that Raísa attended Blanco and Gomez’s wedding. Meanwhile, other guests ― such as Gomez’s “Only Murders in the Building” co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, as well as longtime pal Taylor Swift ― were confirmed to have been present.

Gomez described Raísa as her “beautiful friend” in a 2017 Instagram post announcing she’d undergone a kidney transplant after being diagnosed with lupus.

Since then, however, Raísa has appeared to be less present in Gomez’s life. In 2023, Raísa hinted that the two had weathered “rocky and tricky” times in their friendship in the past.

“I treat her like my little sister; she treats me like her older sister. I don’t know any relationship that’s perfect,” she told Extra TV at the time. “Sometimes people need to spend time apart in order to grow. We had to almost go on our own journey and grow.”
