Jennifer Lopez Playfully Blasts ‘Today’ Host For Asking About Her Divorce From Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez playfully shut down “Today” host Craig Melvin after he asked about her divorce from ex-husband Ben Affleck during an interview.

While appearing Monday on “Today” to discuss her new musical film, “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” Melvin mentioned her divorce from Affleck in relation to the film, prompting Lopez to initially shoo away the inquiry.

“In the middle of filming this elaborate, beautiful musical, your divorce was also finalized with Ben,” Melvin began before Lopez interjected, “There you go! Look at this guy!”

Clarifying his reasoning behind bringing up Affleck, Melvin continued, “But then I read that your ex is an executive producer on the film.”

Brushing off the moment with a laugh, Lopez then gave Affleck, whom she split from in 2024, his flowers, telling Melvin, “If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made. And I will always give him that credit.”

Regarding the divorce, the “Get Right” singer noted that “things happen,” adding, “You have to keep going.”

The former couple first got engaged in 2002 but split the following year. Lopez and Affleck reconciled 20 years later and tied the knot in 2022. Their rekindled love soon fizzled out after Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck last year. Their divorce was finalized in February.

Lopez went on to share how filming “Kiss of the Spider Woman” helped her “survive” the divorce, which she admitted was a “difficult” time.

“It’s funny, the movie is about escapism. It’s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives,” she explained. “Doing this project was such a dream come true for me that it really got me through to kind of survive a moment that was difficult in my personal life as well.”

Melvin then told Lopez, “It sounds like it might have helped save you.”

“It did, it did,” she replied.
